Note that Local Law requires that all dogs four months or older be licensed. To license a dog, contact the Town Clerk, not the Dog Control Officer.  The following events affecting a licensed dog must be reported to the town clerk within 10 days:

• Sale of a licensed dog as licenses are not transferrable.
• Loss or theft of a licensed dog.
• Death of a licensed dog.

Note that two local laws govern dog control in Litchfield, the later law only overrides provisions inconsistent with the earlier law, so both must be considered when seeking to understand dog control law in Litchfield.
